Fonetree

Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 5, 2026

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account or use Fonetree, we may collect:

  • Account information (username, email address, display name, profile bio, avatar)
  • Phone number (used to facilitate voice-call replies via Twilio)
  • Content you post (threads, voice replies, images)
  • Usage data (pages visited, interactions, timestamps)
  • Device and browser information (IP address, user agent)

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Fonetree platform
  • To facilitate voice-call replies between users
  • To send notifications about activity on your threads and replies
  • To moderate content and enforce community guidelines using AI-powered tools
  • To prevent abuse, fraud, and enforce our Terms of Service
  • To analyze aggregate usage trends to improve our service

3. Voice Calls & Telephony

Fonetree uses Twilio to facilitate phone calls for voice replies. When you initiate or receive a call through our platform, Twilio processes your phone number and call audio. Voice replies are transcribed and stored as text content. Call metadata (duration, timestamps) is logged for service purposes. Please review Twilio's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle telephony data.

4. AI & Content Moderation

We use OpenAI's moderation and language models to check user-generated content (text, images) for safety and community guideline compliance. Content submitted to these services is processed in accordance with OpenAI's Privacy Policy. We do not use your content to train AI models.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with third-party service providers (Twilio, OpenAI, MongoDB Atlas, AWS) solely to operate the platform. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Deleted threads and replies are soft-deleted (content is removed but the record is preserved to maintain reply thread structure). You may request full deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

7. Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser local storage to persist your authentication session. We do not use third-party tracking cookies. Essential cookies may be used for security and functionality purposes.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
